If you’re anything like us, your enthusiasm for longer days has not improved your ability to spring out of bed and into the day with the fierce motivation of a thousand hungry lady-dragons. Instead you're waking up as heavy as when you leapt into bed… So what’s the deal? Well, here’s the good news, with a few adjustments to your routine, diet and wardrobe you’ll be waking up blooming… It sounds complicated, but it’s not… let us show you how.
Turn the Sprinkler On
Hydration is key! Staying hydrated throughout the day is absolutely essential for your health and wellbeing. A lack of water not only leads to lethargy but also has us grabbing for sugar-high snacks which affects our ability to rest and sends us into a never ending poor energy spiral.
So what can you do to make sure you're all topped up? Firstly, whatever it is you’re doing throughout the day, make sure you’ve got a glass or bottle of water right with you. Start to create triggers for yourself throughout the day, after you finish a phone call or a task, reach for your water or if you’re driving take a sip when getting in and out of the car… do this for a week and eventually you’ll have picked up a great new, healthy habit without even noticing.
Another tip is to include more water-rich foods into your diet. Watermelon, cucumbers and tomatoes are full of water and have a whole bunch of other health benefits too. Simply add a few of these super foods to your diet and you’ll be snoozing the night through in no time.
Be as Fresh as a Daisy
Now that Spring is in full swing and the weather has well and truly warmed up, now is a good time to start thinking about replacing those old, tired pjs with a fresh pair of Eco Intimates Organic Cotton or Soft Bamboo sleepwear. A pair that will keep you cool and dry in all the right places.
So why is it so important to wear natural fabrics to bed?
Firstly, they feel amazing. Light and soft to touch, there is no friction here! Organic Cotton and Bamboo fibres leave you free to lounge, and we mean really lounge in your sleepwear. This means less waking up in a weird, restless tangle and much, much happiness after a peaceful night of rest.
Both cotton and bamboo are breathable, anti-bacterial and moisture wicking… wow! It sounds kinda gross but with the fabrics being naturally porous, your body temperature will stay temperate and the fabric will soak up your body's toxins while you sleep. Trust us, you will wake up feeling fresher than ever knowing that you basically detoxed in your sleep… no juice cleanse required!
Lastly, switching to organic cotton and bamboo clothing is better for the environment, for these two VERY BIG reasons:
Bamboo and Organic cotton are durable and biodegradable. Say no more!
Feel the Sun on Your Face
Waking up is hard to do… We get it, once you’ve put your head on the pillow at the end of a busy day, you can wake up feeling like you haven’t been asleep at all.
A great way to clear a busy mind is to get your million-dollar ideas down before you hit the hay. Keep a journal by your bed or lounge and whip it out in the evening, whenever you get a niggling thought about what you have to do the next day.
Now more than ever, it’s important to maintain a sense of normality, so set your alarm, muster some motivation and give yourself a reason to get out of bed each morning. It might be a fresh morning walk, a vase of freshly cut flowers or the sense of purpose you get for providing for your family. Whatever it is, start simple and just enjoy!
